Fortunately, learning how to reset the oil life on your Honda Accord or Honda Civic isn’t difficult. With that being said, there are technically two ways you can do it depending on the specific model year of your Honda Accord or Honda Civic. Let’s take a look at how to reset oil life on a Honda Civic or Honda Accord below:

Newer Honda Civic/Honda Accord Models

1. Turn your Honda Civic or Honda Accord on without starting the engine. This can be done by pressing the engine start button twice.
2. On your steering wheel, press the “Menu” button until “Oil Life” appears on your screen. The menu button often has a small “i” on it.
3. Press and hold the “Enter” button on your steering wheel until the “Maintenance Reset” menu appears.
4. Scroll until you see the “Item A” or oil life option.
5. Press and hold the “Enter” button once more.
6. That’s how you reset the oil life on a Honda Accord or Honda Civic if you’ve got a newer model!

Older Honda Civic/Honda Accord Models

1. Using your key, turn on the vehicle without starting the engine.
2. Near your speedometer, there should be a “SEL/RESET” button. Press that button until you get to the “Oil Life” screen.
3. Now press and hold the “SEL/RESET” button until the “Oil Life” screen begins flashing.
4. Once it starts blinking, press and hold the “SEL/RESET” button again.
5. Your oil life indicator should now be reset in your Honda Civic or Honda Accord!
