Honda SensingĀ® is an advanced safety suite that’s standard across the whole new Honda lineup. Naperville drivers looking for a set of premiere driver-assistance technologies and safety features will find exactly what they need. So, what exactly does Honda SensingĀ® come with? Explore the ins and outs of this safety suite with the team at Valley Honda!

What’s Included in the Honda SensingĀ® Package?

Whether you’re driving a spacious Honda Pilot, or cruising the Oswego streets in your reliable Honda Civic, Honda SensingĀ® will be working with you. Let’s take a closer look at the Honda safety features found in this safety package.

Collision Mitigation Braking Systemā„¢ (CMBSā„¢)

  • This system can actively apply the brake if an unavoidable collision with another car, or pedestrian, is detected

Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM)

  • Reads the road markings in front of you and applies steering torque and/or brake pressure if you drift into another lane without a turn signal

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)

  • Helps you maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you with the help of a preset following distance. Can also apply limited braking function

Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)

  • Detects the lane markings around your vehicle, when not using a turn signal, and assists in keeping your vehicle in the proper lane by applying mild steering torque if needed
Honda Adaptive Cruise Control Display

Traffic Sign Recognition (Only Available on 2020 Accord Trim Levels)*

  • A small camera that can read traffic signs and notify drivers of posted speed limits. Honda models with a Heads-Up Display will see the number displayed on the windshield beside their current speed

Driving with Honda SensingĀ® at your side means you’ll have a whole suite of safety features, such as Lane Departure Warning, working in unison to read the road, and signage, around you. It’s important to remember that certain inclement conditions can keep these systems from functioning at 100%. Dense fog and heavy rain, for example, can make it difficult for the systems to detect the signs they need. So remember, you’re still in control of the driving!

Can You Turn Off Honda SensingĀ®?

Yes, you can turn off elements of the Honda SensingĀ® suite. Looking to turn off RDM? Simply press the button located under ECON. To turn off LKS, press the MAIN button on the steering wheel until you see the indicators in the instrument cluster go away.

If you have the centralized touchscreen in your Honda model, you can configure settings there as well. Go to ā€œSettingsā€ – ā€œVehicle Settingsā€ – ā€œDrive Assist Setupā€. Here, you’ll be able to change distance warnings for CMBS, RDM warnings, and much more. Have more questions about Honda SensingĀ® functionality?
