Honda Sensing Technology Delivers Total Peace of Mind

February 28th, 2018 by

Honda Sensing technology is the envy of the automotive world and a clear indication of Honda’s ability to keep seeking new horizons of safety. Collecting the latest driver-assistance features, the Honda Sensing package includes:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)

  • Lane Departure Warning (LDW)

  • Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM)

  • Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)

  • Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)

  • Forward Collision Warning (FCW)

Let’s take a closer look at how each system works to keep you safe.

Adaptive Cruise Control

Forward-facing sensors measure the distance between your Honda and the vehicle ahead. Should the distance become unsafe, your preset cruising speed will be adjusted. As the car ahead pulls away, you’ll be taken automatically back to that preset speed. It’s an excellent feature for getting through stop-start traffic in Chicago or Naperville.

Lane Departure Warning

A rear-facing camera reads the road and determines when you’re leaving your chosen lane. If you should start to drift without signaling, an alert will sound.

Lane Keeping Assist System

The Lane Departure Warning system should make you aware of any unsafe lane changes, but the Lane Keeping Assist System is always ready to leap into action if you don’t. If you fail to correct your course, gentle corrective steering pressure will be applied automatically.

Road Departure Mitigation System

Other manufacturers have developed lane keeping assist systems, but few extend that level of safety to road departure situations. A vehicle with the Honda Sensing package can prevent you from leaving the road as well as your chosen lane.

Forward Collision Warning (FCW)

A windshield-mounted camera detects vehicles ahead and gauges their speed. When a risk of collision develops, audio and visual alerts provide a warning.

Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™)

Should you fail to brake in response to your Forward Collision Warning, the Collision Mitigation Braking System will apply braking pressure to avoid a collision or reduce its severity.
